CBS News is reporting that a new concierge service helps passengers skip TSA lines altogether. A privately held company called “Clear” that utilizes biometric authentication for passenger identity verification. “Clear” employs either Iris scan or fingerprint technology to check passengers. After the passenger identity has been verified they are led past the eternally long TSA lines directly to screening.
CBS News also reports that even though “Clear” is a different service than TSA PreCheck some flyers use “both services. “Clear” costs $179/year while TSA PreCheck costs $85 for five years. For frequent travelers, especially business travelers, spending about $200/year to avoid all that TSA grief sounds like one heck of a bargain.
